Tractor Subsidy Details (Agricultural Mechanization)

Learn about the financial assistance available to Gujarat farmers for purchasing tractors and rotavators under the iKhedut mechanization schemes.

One of the most popular and highly anticipated schemes available on the iKhedut portal falls under the Agricultural Mechanization category: the Tractor Subsidy. Purchasing a tractor is a massive financial burden for small and marginal farmers, and this scheme aims to reduce that cost significantly, boosting farm productivity across Gujarat.

Why the Tractor Scheme Matters

Mechanization is essential for modern farming. Tractors reduce the time needed for tilling, planting, and harvesting, which is critical given unpredictable weather patterns and labor shortages. The government recognizes this and provides direct financial assistance to make these machines affordable.

What Does the Subsidy Cover?

The subsidy is not a flat rate; it varies based on several factors, including the type of tractor and the farmer's category (General, SC, ST, or Women). The assistance typically covers:

  • Standard Tractors: Subsidies are often provided up to a certain percentage of the cost or a fixed maximum amount (e.g., up to Rs. 45,000 to Rs. 60,000 depending on PTO horsepower and category).
  • Mini Tractors: For smaller landholdings, mini tractors have separate subsidy brackets.
  • Implements: If you already have a tractor, you can apply separately for implements like rotavators, cultivators, and seed drills.

Note: Always check the official portal for the exact, current financial year subsidy rates, as they are subject to change.

Eligibility for the Tractor Scheme

To qualify, you must meet the general Eligibility Criteria, plus a few specific rules:

  1. You must have land in your name (8-A holder).
  2. You cannot have received a subsidy for the same equipment category (e.g., a tractor) within a specified number of years (often 7 to 10 years).
  3. The tractor must be purchased only from an authorized dealer empaneled by the government on the iKhedut portal.

How to Apply

When the government announces the opening of the Agricultural Mechanization component, you must act quickly. Follow our general guide on How to Register and Apply. Select the 'Tractor' option under the mechanization schemes. Remember, the budget is limited, and applications are often processed on a first-come, first-served basis or through a randomized computer draw if applications exceed the target.

After your application is approved and you purchase the tractor, government officials may use the iKhedut Mobile App to verify the physical asset before releasing the funds directly into your bank account.
